Got the latest issue of Classic Pop. They had a guide to Roxy Music plus an article about 4AD record label (I must try + read the book about them). They also had an interview w/Yoko Ono and a review of the new Sheila E. album. They also had a feature on Camden (when I lived in London I used to go there a lot, you used to be able to buy bootleg tapes + there was a great market where I used to buy corsets and crepes with lemon juice + sugar plus I used to go to Camden Palace on a Tues night. I used to love Camden but I just don't feel the same way about it now, I think it's changed).
And best of all, they had a big interview w/Boy George and his top songs + I was pleased to see they listed a lot of his solo stuff as well as Culture Club. Boy George was the 1st pop star I ever fell in love with, not so much in the sense of fancying someone but just in the sense of being a real fan of them. I think he's very under-rated. I love Cheapness + Beauty (one of his solo albums from the 90s) - it's a brilliant album that I think deserves a lot more love than it gets.
And they had an article on Klaus Nomi (also another very under-rated artist) - tho' a lot of ppl remember him for his more novelty songs like Ding Dong The Witch is Dead he had this amazing operatic voice. I've got the documentary on him, The Nomi Song, + he was a very interesting character.
New series of Revolution, Elementary and Misfits start next week. Plus Layer Cake is on Film 4 tonight which means I will finally get to see it (I’m going to tape it + watch it tomorrow).
