I finished reading Cherry Vanilla's autobiography, Lick Me. Altho she's perhaps best known as a groupie (and is quite unashamed about her exploits) there's also a lot more to her - she was a successful ad executive in 60s New York before starring in underground plays like Pork/hanging out with Warhol and Jayne County and becoming David Bowie's publicist (Sabel Starr and Lori Mattix get mentioned in passing) and helping to launch him in America before starting her own music career (at one point her backing band were The Police).
She's now responsible for managing Vangelis but over the years has worked for a number of other artists/creative types.
She sounds like a really fun, smart lady who definitely led a really wild life and seemed to have really enjoyed most of it.
I think she's probably one of the last 'name' groupies to tell her story altho I still hope one day we'll get Lori Mattix's memoirs or even just a general book about the early 70s Los Angeles scene.
