And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
She had stopped talking; the tears started to engulf her and she was sobbing. Nothing could stop her from the intense sobs she was choking on. She loved Denny, had become close to him, nothing that was said to her would be able to stop them.
She didn’t need to be talked to; didn’t need to know that Denny was dead; she knew it but just couldn’t accept the fact that Denny was actually dead. He picked her up from her position on the bed next to Denny as though she were a delicate china doll that was fragile and shouldn’t have been handled.
He allowed her to lean on his shoulder, her tears to penetrate through his suit jacket and shirt. She didn’t deserve this; didn’t deserve the emotional turmoil that she was experiencing. She needed him to be there, not saying a word to her. She continued to cry, her tears becoming less and less frequent, but the intensity not subsiding.
He sat down in the chair, allowing her to cry. He knew the others were there, but for a brief moment, it felt like there were only the three of them in the room: him, Izzie, and Denny.
He continued to sit in the chair, not quite sure if this was what he should be doing. He loved Izzie; loved her with all his heart, but he just needed to be there for her now, be her friend, be her shoulder for her to lean upon. He was doing the best he could.
He heard somebody leave, and didn’t really care who it was and just continued. He needed to be there for Izzie and kissed her ear lightly before continuing to rock her.
