Just returned from an anniversary trip to Cleveland. (26 years...my husband is the most wonderful and patient of men.) I would recommend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to anyone. The special exhibits while we were there were the Beach Boys, the Clash and the Doors. What a combination, but well worth a visit ( Read more... )

I'm cracking up at Jo Rowlings comment about Deathly Hallows spoilers:

In a statement, Rowling said: “I am staggered that some American newspapers have decided to publish purported spoilers in the form of reviews in complete disregard of the wishes of literally millions of readers, particularly children, who wanted to reach Harry’s final destination by themselves, in their own time."

If she thinks she's staggered now, wait until she starts getting reviews AFTER Saturday. Every single leaked version of the book that I have seen (and I think some elements of at least one of them have to be legit) has sucked big time.

Remember the quote I used once from Bierce Ambrose? I'm betting it will be true again.

"The covers of this book are too far apart."

Well, Deathly Hallows was not so bad, except I think the editor spent all of her time wondering what shade of lipstick would look best on Jo's ass instead of editing. Lots of flints, and clunky/unclear passages. The book was good, though, until you go the epilogue which totally sucked royally. We were supposed to find out what happened to the survivors, not a few of them. Not enough info at all there. I'm personally ignoring it. I also have a cat that could have done better with a crayon in its mouth, as one fabulous fan put it.

Where was powerful Ginny, the womb with a view, in that book? ARGH was right...powerless trophy wife and red-headed red herring. 'Nuff said. Love to Gily, Prongs and LilyP for having the guts to admit they'd been conned.

Happy anniversary to Tom, who has been as wonderful as anyone could be, for 26 years today.
