Apparently Mondays and Thursdays are my days off, so I have time to blog!
At work I have to clean all the beer mugs, wine glasses, hi-ball glasses, rocks, and maritini glasses I use to give people their drinks in. I have to clean, rinse, and sanitize all glasses. The sanitizer is made by dropping 2 tablets of concentrated sanitizer into water.
So the other day I was bored and reading the bottle of sanitizer and it said on the front "kills the HIV/AIDS virus when used properly."
I thought to myself, Seriously?
Why is this on there? You CANNOT GET HIV FROM TOUCHING THE SAME GLASS AS SOMEONE WHO HAS THE DISEASE!
Really, all this does is instill fear in people that they can get the disease from daily contact, which is ridiculous! This is not the 80's people, we should all know this.
I assume the company does this because it scares people into buying their product because they are not informed about how they can and cannot get HIV.
now everytime i reach for the bottle of tablets, all i think of is how this company is intentionally writing misleading information on its products in order to obtain more profit, but at the same time it is increasing the stereotypes that those infected/affected by this already difficult enough disease must face daily.
ugh.
