Day 16 - Your first kiss

My first kiss was pretty amazing. I had just found out that somebody wanted to date me--me! I was nineteen and a half years old, as nerdy as I ever was, shy and withdrawn into myself, and I hardly believed such a thing was possible.

But it was true; we had been flirting, subtly, then obviously, ever since she broke up with my roommate (yeah, I know, but I was young and naive). I was so nervous about the whole "someone might like me" situation I got physically ill--and then she brought me soup. After I felt better, we went walking around campus for at least an hour, talking about the prospects of dating. We finally got tired and sat down in front of the football stadium on the edge of campus.

It was there we decided that yes, dating was worth a try. So we sealed it with a short kiss. It was good, so we did it again: a lot longer that time. We stayed there for several minutes (it seemed!) before finally deciding we should get back to the dorms.

After that, I left a cryptic message in Japanese onomatopoeia on my journal, which got the rest of my friends wondering. I forget if-and-how I told my friends at college that I was in a relationship, but I managed to hide it from my parents until that weekend, after they got a chance to meet her as a regular friend, at parents day.
