I remember, back when I was in school, I wrote dozens (nay hundreds) of essays. Many of them were in the tortured Five Paragraph format, but nearly all of them required a Thesis: the argument you are trying to make. And my teachers, apologetically, would mention that the original, true definition of an essay had little to do with making an argument, but really should be closer to having a conversation, and as long as the reader gets something of interest out of the text, you don't even necessarily need to have a point--but, of course, only the best (or stupidest) writers should purposely attempt such a format.

Tim Rogers (who styles himself tim rogers) is one of those essayists. You can decide for yourself whether he qualifies as "one of the best" or "one of the stupidest". He writes essays about video games, although often they end up delving into existentialist musings that are mostly natural enough not to sound pretentious. I've linked to his stuff before; I know at least that I linked to his visceral review of Earthbound. I think I may have linked to his website. Now, he writes guest articles for Kotaku. A month or so ago I started reading an impressions article about Final Fantasy XIII out loud to Stephie; I didn't realize it was written by tim rogers at first because Kotaku hides their attributions in a weird place that my eye always skips over. Anyway, I was running out of breath and getting tired and I finally realized it was him, so I stopped reading it out loud and went to bed. But I did finish reading it to myself, the next day.

Anyway, the reason I mention tim rogers is that he posted his Top Games of the Decade on Kotaku. I'm linking to it for the simple fact that, no matter how rambly it is, it made me want to try out all the games he mentions that I haven't played yet. That is all.
