This John Mackey guy seems pretty smart. He's the CEO of Whole Foods, and he wrote a response to Obama a few months ago criticizing his health care bill. Rather, he explained why his company's health care is better than what the government is planning, and had specific recommendations on how to improve it. This weekend, he had an interview with the Wall Street Journal
explaining his view further, and I find it hard to disagree with anything he says therein.
Two things of note:
This weekend we went to see the Toy Story 3-D double feature. I loved Toy Story when it came out--in fact, it was one of the only movies I owned on video cassette while growing up. Toy Story 2 worried me, because I thought they'd run out of story to tell--but it ended up being pretty good too. So going to see the double feature was an easy sell for me; I knew I was going to love them both.
The 3-D aspect? Distracting. I finally started to get used to it about thirty minutes before the end of the movie, but it wasn't impressive at all, it made it impossible to read any of the awesome details in the background during fast pans, and it made our eyes hurt.
But it was still worth seeing again!
Sadly, Hollywood 14 didn't have it, so we had to go to Forum 8. I remember that my parents took me to a Forum movie a decade or so ago, and we swore never to go back--I don't remember the reason. I assumed it had to do with sticky floors. But when we went to the double feature, there was no employee there to say when the movie was or wasn't seating, or to start a line. All the theatergoers were just milling around in a crowd, and if it was a more packed house, it could have been a problem. The theater ended up being about three-quarters full, so it wasn't a problem, but still--it left a sour taste in our mouths.
In Gaming news, we purchased a Dreamcast from Think Geek to help round out our game system collection. We have yet to purchase any games (or a memory card), but I'm sure we'll stop by Slackers sooner or later to see what they have.
