So, Stephanie has been playing Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, getting that little bit of backstory that Kingdom Hearts II leaves purposely vague. Personally, I think Kingdom Hearts is brilliant--rather than being a cheap franchise cash-in, it actually tells a pretty epic story without having to create and introduce to players a hundred new characters. (In fact, you practically need a flowchart to understand the relationships between the series' original characters, anyway!)

By the way, for those of you who think it's silly when a game series adds numbers to the end of its new games and nothing else, Kingdom Hearts is an example of the opposite extreme. Okay, so there is Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II... There is also Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts: coded, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories. Now, guess what order these games are scheduled to come out in or what order they take chronologically in-game...

But I digress! As Stephie has been playing, I've found myself wondering what sorts of fan-made pencil and paper Kingdom Hearts adaptations there are out there. With just a little bit of searching, I've found a few tries at a D20 version, no BESM version (Why not?), and of course, a Returners version. You know, there's no reason the Kingdom Hearts universe HAS to be limited to Disney films and worlds populated with random Final Fantasy characters. I could easily see Bowser, Space Pirates, Eggman, and the like trying to control Heartless, or Fox, Ike, or Ness trying to contain them.

In non-gaming news, this weekend we bought a new car. Yep, we got rid of Stephie's curmudgeonly green 1999 Ford Escort, and now we own a 2009 Toyota Prius. Beautiful car; small yet roomy. It's exciting.
