My parents were out of town this weekend, leaving one of my sisters and me with the house all to ourselves. I had the weekend off work and also managed to catch some unlovely bug, so it was nice to have the run of an almost-empty house for a bit.
What wasn't nearly as nice, however, was what I saw when I looked out the window on my way up the stairs this morning.
(not my photo)
I believe I came within an inch of an actual screech. Not two weeks into October, and it's already here!
We were transportation-challenged as far as getting to church was concerned anyway, so we turned up the thermostat, broke out the books, and held an impromptu snow day. (As opposed to yesterday, when we walked several blocks to the grocery store to buy the essential ingredients required to make a certain crisped rice cereal treat.)
I am also glad I have another day off work yet, which means one more day I can postpone braving the early winter weather at 5:30 in the morning. If only we could have winter without the cold! But alas, it presents itself as such a beautiful occasion for the consumption of hot cocoa and gingersnaps...
