Check in and Oscars

I watched the Oscar nominations at work today.  I know that it's just an awards show but I still find it kind of exciting.  I've seen at least half of the films up for best picture and since there are ten of them, that's quite the accomplishment.  I am pretty lucky to have so many people willing to watch Dorian so that Gavin and I can go out and since we are both cinophiles, date night is definitely meal+film (or just film if we are crunched for time).  I loved King's Speech, but I'm kind of rooting for Black Swan.  That's a movie that gets under your skin.

The schedule for NeMLA has come out.  I'll be presenting on Friday, April 8th.  It'll be around dinner time and the president of NeMLA will be giving a speech at the same time.  So, I'm hoping for a small crowd.  It's crazy that I'll be giving a paper right after a doctor from NYU.  I should really get to writing this paper.

I've read not one, but two books this year, The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Time Machine.  I got a Kindle for Christmas and am reading free books to download.  So, pre-1923 books until we have some more disposable income.

Stuff is going well.  I'm busy but feel like I'm getting somewhere.  Be on the look out for sad posts as I start receiving  rejection letters from colleges for PhD programs and teaching positions.
