I really feel like going to Japan lately. Mitsuru was telling me about these gorgeous montains between Mt. Fugi and Tokyo that he had hiked, and I really want to give it a go. I hink it would be awesome to hike in Japan...the terrain is so different. If only I had the money to get there and a place to sleep a couple of times...I know I can live there very inexpensively...I did the last time I went.
My exciting news for the summer:
I was one of the 8 people selected for a student research grant called SURF. Writing the proposal was a huge effort, and I think it is some of my best work. The program entails 8 weeks of research with a $2,600 stipend, plus an additional $400 for supplies. I'll be researching some of the factors that may influence woodchuck pups' natal dispersal. It'll be a lot of work, but it'll be a good experience, a chance to see what I'm getting into with grad school, plus a way to work outside and enjoy my summer more. Yay! I'm excited!
