Happy Birthday!

Nov 24, 2014 09:57

Six and a half years ago I entered the community of surrogacy- a world of infertility terms and fertility statistics, traditional and gestational surrogates, egg and sperm donors, intended parents, agencies and clinics, lawyers and contracts, money and insurance, counselors and psychiatric evaluations, testing and medications, ultrasounds and bloodwork, insemination, IUI and IVF procedures, home pregnancy tests and betas, failed cycles and miscarriages, heartbreak, starting over and trying again, pregnancy, more medications and doctor appointments, singletons and multiples, preemies and full term babies, joyful thankful hearts, sibling attempts, with families created and completed. I have found immeasurable support among this community of special people since 2008.

Five years ago today it all became worth it for me when the baby I carried as a gestational surrogate was first placed into the waiting arms of his parents. It was an experience that changed my outlook on life. I felt honored to have been the one to help L & B expand their family. Today I am still honored to be in their lives. Every text I receive and picture I see over the years is a precious reminder of the connection we share. Their family will be in my heart forever.

Happy 5th Birthday, little D!!!
