Conflicted

Fan fiction. I don't own them, and I don't pretend to. I gain nothing but enjoyment in playing with them.

Set somewhere in/around Train Job. No spoilers.

Implied future Jaylee going on here. It is the third in a series that began with Scratching An Itch, followed up by Infernal Women. In this one Kaylee wrestles with her own thoughts after a semi-intimate moment is broken up by Mal.

Conflicted

Her mind told her that she wanted Simon. He was a good man. He was smart. He was cultured. He was well dressed, and he was so very shiny. Her mind told her that she deserved a polished up man like the good doctor. It’s what she had wanted.

Her mind seemed to be at odds with her other senses right about now. She couldn’t get the image of Jayne’s big, strong back out of her mind. She couldn’t forget the way his muscles felt under her fingers. He couldn’t put out of her mind how broad his shoulders were. Those eyes of his were the killer, though. Those eyes could melt even the coldest of women into warm and willing. Kaylee knew she wasn’t a cold blooded woman by any means. Jayne could make her breath catch, and her heart skitter a beat without anything more than one look through them blue eyes of his.

Calm your horses, Kaylee. That inner voice chided her firmly. That man only sees you as a quick tumble, and you want more out of life than that. You deserve more than that. That’s was her mind talking. It was the voice she was doing everything she could to listen to, too. That voice that had a nice, reasonable, and rational sound to it was what she was doing everything possible to listen to in her choices these days. She had a future to think of. Jayne didn’t have much of a future. She doubted he even though beyond the next job.

Oh! He could make you feel so good. She groaned when her mind went there. Those big strong arms would hold her so tight. That man clearly knew what to do with a woman. He just had that manner about him that oozed raw, primal sex. That manner drew Kaylee’s attention to him like a moth to flame every time. She knew she shouldn’t think about him like that. She just plain couldn’t help herself. She wanted the doctor. She wanted the security that man represented. Why then, did her knees go weak? Why did her belly fill with moths when Jayne looked at her just so? Did Jayne even know, or care, how powerful a want he could put into her? She knew he wouldn’t kick her out of his bed. She just wanted him to let her into his life.
