Oh I agree with you on the matter of rushing and producing something sub-par vs. waiting and producing excellence. Like I pointed out, 'Insurrection' was a clear example of what happens when the script is rushed or not even completed prior to filming (we end up with enough plot holes or inconsistencies to fill a black hole... "You never kissed me with a beard before" case in point).

However, marketing does have to be taken into account, I think. Those of us who are huge fans of the franchise will see it regardless, but even if it's the best Trek ever penned and put to film but it's up against a huge box office release of similar genre, I worry that those who only saw Reboot because 'yeah, I vaguely remember Star Trek reruns as a kid and hmmm, this looks good, neat trailer' wont make that same choice twice when there is serious competition, you know? It's not the Trekkies I'm worried about, it's the other. ST 11 came out in May and really was the first of the summer blockbusters and later the only competition became Transformers 2, which, frankly, kind of sucked as films go, so the timing was perfect. Shame they can't duplicate those circumstances.

But yes, his concentration right now should be on directing and producing to the best of his abilities. Orci claims the script has been done 'for awhile' according the the article I linked above, so here's hoping it will wow us once more.
