Merlin Fic Rec and K/S Writing Update
This journal has been awfully quiet lately but only cause I've been using most of my spare time for writing... with the occasional break for reading fic, because, you know, I've got almost zero willpower, I admit it, and with ST BB going on how can I be expected not to give into temptation? Oh, and also the occasional break for the latest Takei macro, because, again, no willpower, and I love to laugh.... okay, okay, so maybe I break more than I should.;-)
But I'm proud (and relieved) to say that the ksadvent fic is at the beta, all 8000 words of it (kinda got away from me a bit *sheepish grin*) and I have two other fics in various stages of development. So see? I do have some sort of workable attention span. No, really. XD
I'm actually pretty excited about the Advent fic, which is a nice change from my usual Type A worrying over every tiny detail ad nauseam to the point I simultaneously fear and anticipate posting. Instead of taking a prompt this year (though it was tempting, the prompts were all fantastic), I decided to do my own thing. It's an Academy AU, using a concept I had fun with, but also answers a question I've pondered over since viewing Reboot for the first time. I can't wait to show it to you guys *is giddy*.
And speaking of being distracted by pretty shiny... kianspo, who is completely awesome, we know this, has recently posted an utterly amazing Merlin AU. It's fabulous. And no this is not just me being biased. It really is that wonderful.
Here be the summary:
Uther dies instead of Ygraine when Arthur is born. Balinor helps Ygraine secure her position as regent, magic isn’t banned, and Merlin and Arthur grow up side by side. Camelot is different but not cloudless, destiny is still a troublesome thing, and Arthur is still charmingly oblivious when it comes to things that matter most in life.
So for all the Merlin fans on my flist, why are you still here? Go read! :-)
