about those voter laws... threeoutside October 24 2012, 14:21:29 UTC
Our county election commissioner (guess what, a Republican!) gerry-mandered our districts last year, dropped dozens of polling places (guess what, in strong Democratic precincts!), but there was a huge outcry so he reinstated SOME of them. The Republican Ratchet Effect.

Anyway, the only thing I could think to do was volunteer to drive people to the polls. So I voted early by mail and signed up with the Democrats (I'm not in love with those guys, either, but at least they haven't tried to disenfranchise huge portions of our electorate), and I'll be driving people to their polling stations all day.

This tactic of the Repugs is dangerous to my blood pressure so I try not to think about it.

From the Obama / Christian article: "Cass says he’s never heard Obama say he’s “born-again.” There’s no emotional conversion story to hang onto."

Not every Christian is going to say that, particularly if they've been in the church all of their life.

Yes, the Bible says "You must be born again". It also says dozens of times over that you're obligated to help the poor--the Old Testament lays out very specific rules about this--and Paul adds that you're to obey the authorities, because they hold their position by God's will.
