I once had a dentist tell me he couldn't treat me "until I got right with God." Oddly enough, he didn't specify which one. I took the bib off, got up, and walked out of his office.

Also, growing up in suburban LA, I learned the word 'barranca' at an early age because there was one at the end of the playground at my elementary school. I was extremely surprised to learn after we moved away from there when I was an adolescent that everywhere else they're called ravines [g].

Where I used to live we had a family of ducks coming reguarly to the birdfeeder. This family consisted of two drakes and a duck. They came over several years, usually all three, sometimes a drake and the duck, sometimes the two drakes together (particularly during laying/chick season). Stable, long-term relationship.

So much for the animal kingdom.
