Global warming denial is like evolution denial/Intelligent Design. No one comes to either position based on an objective review of the evidence. Both are fundamentally ideological perspectives unrooted in reality that desperately seek evidence to legitimize their irrationality. Both are essentially nonsense clothed in the language of science, and often backed by big money for related ideological reasons. But just because a lot of people believe that nonsense doesn't make it right.

Michele Bachmann is the candidate Sarah Palin was supposed to be - Thank you, John McCain, for doing so much to legitimize the politics of resentment and proud mediocrity. You've certainly assured your place in history with the Palin nomination.
