I'm on the plane home!
Yesterday we got up, had breakfast, and took the tram to the train station, then the train to the airport. At the airport we checked in and the lady had to swipe my passport three times before it went through. I bought some presents for people and we headed for our gate. The gate was changed twice before we finally boarded. When we did, my information still wasn't in the computer. Argh.
After arriving at Gatwick, we took the train to Victoria and then the tube to our hostel, where we dropped off our stuff. Lunch was from a grocery store down the street, where I also picked up some Green and Black's chocolate (yay!). Then we headed for the train down to the castle.
At Bader we ran into Aidan, Mike Graham, Paul and Kelly, and hung out with Mike and Paul while waiting for our cab. Just as we were loading up the cab, Simon came down, and hugs were exchanged. My packed of Hershey's chocolate from Grandma was there and Caroline Dennett gave it to me. Sadly, it only confirmed to me how awful chocolate back home is.
Train and tube back - oh God. With all our luggage, it was hell. Thankfully, there were quite a few people who helped us with stairs and doors. Hauling it down the street to the hostel was hell too. We left it downstairs and brought our backpacks to the suitcases to reorganise. Afterwards, we went out to Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square to see Canada Hosue one last time, and find something to eat. I wasn't looking where I was going, a guy on a bike swerved onto the sidewalk to avoid me and ended up hitting someone else. Gah! Then back to the hostel for sleep.
This morning I got up a lot earlier than planned because I couldn't get back to sleep. Breakfast and then a cab to Heathrow - there was no way in hell we were taking the tube again with all our stuff. Ran into Jenn, one of the SLCs from last term, at the airport; she's on our flight. I bought more Green & Black's - stocking up, haha. Donated my last 88p to charity. And now we're on our way! Like, six or seven more hours ahead of us. Apparently it's only SIX DEGREES back home btu it'll be afternoon when we land, so hopefully it will have warmed up.
Home is going to be weird. Good, but weird.
