liberte, egalite, fraternite

I may be considering joining the fraternity in whose house I'm already living. I took Jason's spot in a last minute winter quarter housing shuffle, for those who didn't know.

Generally, I'm not a big fan of fraternities, hence I haven't joined one by now, the end of my junior year. I was damn sure I wouldn't join one when I started here, as were most of the guys in this house. They like to be the non frat fraternity i.e. beer, pizza and objectivication of women are optional, and anyway I'm a big fan of those things to an extent. (I think a lot of people need to lower their sensitivity and as long as offensive isn't targeted I'm OK)

Most of the guys are pretty cool. There are some that I really dislike but I told them that and they seem to be OK with it.

I don't see this really upping my partying or ass getting, but it could be useful for business contacts, and after a long conversation I've decided that the networking done through fraternities isn't entirely neoptism, and even if it is, why shouldn't I benefit from it Like money, nepotism is only bad if it's abused. I can't do anything to stop abuse of nepotism from the outside so what's the point of staying out.

So I thought about what my friends would think if I joined, and I've decided I really don't care UNLESS someone can bring up a valid reason why I shouldn't. I use to think I had good reasons not too, but now I've dismissed them/forgotten what they are.

So if anyone thinks they have a good reason to sway me, try it. Despite the fact that I can't think of any good reason not to, I'm still on the fence. Something about it just doens't feel right, but if I can't put my finger on it, maybe it's because it's not really there.

Also I like this frat because most of the guys in it could tell me what my entry title means and to what it alludes., and probably that I left off the accents because I'm lazy.
