i think i am slowly coming along in china. i am begining to warm to ppl and ppl are beginning to warm to me. good thing.
today was a semi eventful day.
i got started on my first rfq pack (request for quote) which basically North America sends over here to China and it goes to one of us buyers and then we go to the suppliers of the part the RFQ specifies and we get a quote to see how much it would cost to get it sourced.
well guess what my part is?
yup that's right, gas caps.
ie. fuel caps, as well as maybe engine oil caps and radiator caps.
so if things go well...you go buy a Ford car and chances are the gas cap, or one of those caps was bought by meeee. ain't that a dandy.
after work i went to the wedding of Luke and Vivien and it was nice.
it was small and at the Westin.
good fun stuff.
apparently i was pretty important because i got an offer to sit at the head table and i worked the desk that has the book and the programs that people need to sign and recieve.
i also took in several red envelopes but i had to give those back.
as a lot of you know, the President and VP of Taiwan got shot today. Both injuries are not life threatening.
there are two theories.
1. assasanation attempt by who know who
2. the pres is trying to get sympathy votes by planning this shooting himself. and by himself i mean one of his people.
either way...is pathetic.
i am all for a unified china and taiwan. of course i am against taiwan being under the rule of beijing but i am all for a unified country. right now we have a one country two systems deal going on with China and HK. Hk = sar = special administrative region. i think taiwan should follow a similar path. they can go on with their own way of governing but because i want chinese ppl to be unified and together, it would be good if we could all be one country. i know a lot of ppl disagree but that's just what i think. it would make things a lot easier too for example traveling to taiwan would be a breeze.
anyhow, thanks doug for your post. i'll post a comment to that tommorrow when i have more energy. later folks.
