I'm not truly published yet either. I need to actually finish something good enough for myself first.... and then try the submission process. I just really don't know the whole ins & outs of it. I have tried researching it and I have listened to professional writers, publishers, editors, agents, etc at various Marcon panels over the years... but it's almost as if everyone has a different system, different advice, and some contradicts the others.
I'm even more clueless on agents. I've been told the agents you need don't want you until after you're a proven source of profit - something you almost cannot become without a good agent. :P
I'd appreciate any more advice you have on the matter. :)
This is very good information. I'm working on putting together a couple things which I want to submit to literary magazines, but time is always short. :(
