lyrics translation: “sisyphus” by U (shirota yuu)
Am currently loving Shirota Yuu's single, "Sisyphus."
He sounds really good! His songs, his voice...totally unexpected. Admittedly, I wasn't all that excited when I found out that he released a single.
I haven't really heard him sing before and, as an actor, he's just pretty much so-so for me. He's a looker and all, but not exactly my type. *okay yuu fans, you CAN shoot me now.
* Anyway, imagine my surprise when I finally (at jinjin's twitter recommendation
) listen to his single and get blown away by the sheer amazing-ness of U.
There I was expecting some bubblegum pop music and he comes up with the darkly-dramatic-in-a-good-way "Sisyphus." It's my fave from his single, which contains three other songs: "Heart of Glass," "U" and his remake of the Spanish song, "Cuando se ama." I also love his rendition of the Spanish song. His low, husky voice is just the perfect touch to make it sound even more romantic.
Anyway, so I ended up translating "Sisyphus" just for my sheer love of it. Just a quick trivia about the title: Sisyphus is a character from the Greek mythology, who used to be a king but punished by the gods to push uphill a huge boulder that always falls off when he's about to reach the top *yeah, talk about torture..
..* So, douzo!
*My japanese is kind of rusty plus I found the lyrics a bit difficult to translate. So, comments & helpful suggestions are most welcome!
