So not too much has happened since my last post.
Rowing finished up and I am really looking forward to returning to it in the spring if I can. :o)
Next weekend I am volunteering to work at the Head of the Charles on Saturday and maybe Sunday if I can get up.
During this week we also debuted two new games:
Munchkin-It takes playing this game once to really get the hang of it. The second game however, is a no holds bar! It's a role playing game without all the time-consuming role development part. You kick down doors, battle monsters (my favorite is pukeachu and unbelievably terrible indescribable horror), get loot, curse other players and steal. They have multiple expansion packs - which might be purchased soon - and also a couple different versions. This game requires 3 players which can be annoying if you only have one friend. Pricing for this game is incredibly reasonable at $25, expansion packs are around $17 and include almost as many cards as the original game itself. It's also very funny, and even funnier when I've had 4 glasses of wine. On a jayde-scale of 1-5, I'll give it a 4.35.
Shadows Over Camelot-This game has a lot of potential. We tried to debut it on Friday night, with a few seasoned veterans of similar games. However, this game has a lot of details and it very difficult to beat. It involves a lot teamwork and strategy - which after playing Munchkin a few times, is not what people usually have in mind. This game also requires 3 players. In shadows, a player has to defend camelot, accomplish quests and attempt to uncover the traitor. The guide suggests not playing with the traitor until you have a good concept of how to play the game - and I agree completely. I've played twice and lost both times without a traitor. Our experience on Friday was very frustrating but I think maybe if we try again with a game plan, we'll enjoy it more. Pricing of this game is about $30 (reasonable) and to my knowledge the expansion pack only consists of collector-item knights. (::Twirls finger in excitement::) Jayde-scale rating 4.15.
I've also been Netflix-ing a lot more lately. (I'm trying for $0.50/movie/month) Recently I've received:
Steel Magnolias
Rome
Pretty Woman
Better Off Dead
Father Ted Season 1
Million Dollar Baby
I did not know steel magnolias was a sad movie. With everything going on, probably not the best movie to watch - but I still enjoyed it. Rome is kind of bleh and only contained 2 episodes. Pretty women is a classic, enough said. Better off Dead has John Cusack (*Love him!) playing a dumped teen attempted (and failing to commit suicide) - it odd, funny and I enjoyed it immensely - this is john cusack before he was filled with angst. Father Ted is a british comedy about three priests - it's good and makes fun of the catholic religion every 4-6 minutes - pretty good if you ask me. Million Dollar Baby - I enjoyed it a lot, it's not my favorite but I would still recommend it.
Also caught The Departed last Wednesday. It reminds me a bit (just a bit) of a Tarintino film - it's violent and Marky-Mark is a bad ass... Woah. Go see it.
ok long post done. By the way - it's freaking cold outside!!!
