let it go. I too had (have) exceptionally irregular cycles so there was no way of knowing if I was "late". I too was on drugs which were going to have to be monitored closely once pregnant. I looked up the most basic info on Metformin and while your doc may make changes once you are pregnant, it seems there is little risk to the baby in the first trimester. (www.otispregnancy.org/files/metformin.pdf) The bigger risk is in blood sugar control (this also is similar to my situation with the epilepsy drugs, though mine were of significantly higher risk to the baby, the risks to the baby would be higher had my seizure condition not been controlled, than what the risks of the drugs were.) Our doc was insistent on high levels of folic acid to protect the baby, this being taken the entire time I was of conceiving age (meaning long before we even tried). So if it would help you be more at ease, you could ask to have a prescription for folic acid separate from your daily multi, the studies I was presented with showed no risks when more than you need is taken, you just pee it back out.

I would not take tests repeatedly. 1. they are not cheap! 2. the psychological aspect of it is REAL and damaging. I took a test when I thought I was preg with Sorsha...neg. Was still feeling like maybe I was as the symptoms continued and sure enough a week later, positive test. 3. if you FEEL like you are pregnant, symptoms like sore breasts/nipples, constant nausea (like for a week), extreme lethargy, then yeah, test but otherwise the more you relax about it the more likely you'll get preg and the better for your mental state (I know MUCH easier said than done!) With Soren we were trying for a while and were surprised it wasn't happening, then decided to "lay off, not try so hard" in the month of March as we weren't real keen on the idea of a Christmas baby. yeah, "relax" and that's what happens, hello Christmas baby.

Most important is to control your blood sugars, if suddenly things seem awry in that regard, everything was fine and then its just not and there seems to be no explanation, then maybe do a test as your body is thrown for a major loop when you get pregnant so it might change your blood sugar situation.

I guess I'm saying "listen to your body", don't stress over it, don't drive yourself mad, if you don't find out you're pregnant until 4 months in, it wont be the end of the world. The drugs you are on aren't known to be high risk and while your pregnancy would be high risk, its because of your sugar levels which you will be watching and doing the necessary vigil in that regard even when not yet pregnant. Very little about your day to day behavior will need to change once you know you are pregnant.

As far as the horseback riding lessons: http://www.babycenter.com/406_is-it-safe-to-ride-horseback-during-pregnancy_1246863.bc Again, I'd listen to your body. If you are feeling symptoms, then scale back some; the likelihood is that you'll know you are pregnant long before you are through your first trimester, and thus will be able to appropriately change your riding in your first trimester and stop into your 2nd.

so that's my (lengthy) take on it. Praying for you! Love you!
