{Semipoem} Dessert Offering

Jul 14, 2008 17:50

Succumb to the cherries atop
Your black forest cake,
Each succulent sweet sensation
Of chocolatey richness bittersweet,

Dark sins. The swirl of raspberry
Hidden, a secret surprise
In your cheesecake. Not much,
Just right, a little mild,

Beautifully so. Strawberries
topping the confection, fragrant
with green tea. Tangy explosion
of flavour, mixing with

Lingering sweetness. Currants
Mixed with regret, topped
With succulent carrots.
Positioned carefully on

The altar. A tinge of mulberries
Sweetening the light fluff of
Cream, flavours I never cared much for,
Colours I, only now, begin

Experimenting with. But you wouldn't
Say it's too late, wouldn't
Begrudge me finally realising
The joy you wanted to show me.
