I'm back.
Soon, I will explain where I have been. But for now, just know that yesterday was so crazy that I had to share it. So here goes:
7:30 PM-Leave USF to go pick up some last minute stuff for the CSU Valentine's Formal.
7:40 PM-Get rear-ended in the turn lane on Fletcher at the Bruce B. Downs intersection. Luckily, no damage.
7:42 PM-Realize that the insurance card in the car has expired, and I don't have the new one with me.
7:43 PM-Make the executive decision that, since there is no damage and I lack an insurance card, it's not worth waiting for the other driver to write down her contact information, given that we are blocking a major intersection and somebody is probably going to call the police soon if we don't move.
8:08 PM-Make it back to USF with the supplies. Did I mention that ever since I left my car home for the first couple of weeks of this semester, the door hasn't quite worked right, and now it won't shut at all? Yeah, the constant beeping while I drive sucks.
8:18 PM-Call my mom to let her know what happened. Get a minor chewing-out. Did I mention that my prepaid phone is almost out of minutes because the last bunch I bought got lost in cyberspace and it will require making a phone call (go figure) to tech support in order to find them?
9:00 PM-Finally calm down enough to go get some food.
9:05 PM-Some girl asks me to dance while I'm eating. Thinking that this is just somebody trying to get me out on the dance floor because it's a well-known fact that I don't dance, I say, "Uh, NO." I'm a bit of a jerk.
9:20 PM-Learn that said girl is upset and has gone outside. Uh-oh.
9:21 PM-Go to see if she's alright (and if I can apologize/clarify that I DON'T dance with anybody).
9:22 PM-Watch said girl run away. Literally run.
9:23 PM-Seriously consider calling it a night.
9:24 PM-Pray for serenity as a search party sets out.
9:45 PM-Bathroom party over. Remain outside to give people a chance to calm down.
10:00 PM-Go back inside.
10:30 PM-Man up and explain that no, I DON'T dance.
10:40 PM-Politely refuse to dance.
10:41 PM-Continue refusing to dance.
10:42 PM-Continue explaining this whole NOT dancing thing.
10:43 PM-Refuse to dance yet again.
10:44 PM-Fend off increasingly-aggressive attempts to get me to dance.
10:45 PM-Finally slip away.
11:10 PM-Call it a night.
After spending the better part of a year putting as much distance between myself and drama as possible, it seems that it's caught up to me after all.
