Eater.com is one of my favoritest blogs out there... it lets me keep track of all the goings on the NYC restaurant industry; the opens, the closes, the DOHs... I haven't checked it out in a while, and this morning since I'm on the early shift, I thought I'd peek in and see what's happening.
Gone: Cafe Mozart. I went here with Catherine and Tesse before seeing Light in the Piazza.
Gone: Coco Pazzo. Used to know someone who worked there.
Gone: Cosi on 6th Ave at 13th Street. Many evenings spent there with Ryan and Maty.
Gone: Pennyfeathers. Never ate there but walked past every time I went to Maries or the Duplex.
Gone: DIP -- my little fondue place down the street from my apartment in Murray Hill. Several visits here with Drew, Elizabeth, and a Jenben birthday party! (They messed up our order, and made up for it by plying us with LOTS OF FREE ALCOHOL...gotta love that)
Gone: Senor Swankys. Not really sad, just intrigued.
Gone: L'Impero. I think I mentioned this one in the past. Elizabeth used to work here.
Gone: And I know I mentioned this one... Florent. Sigh. I refuse to believe it. Apparently, the landlord refused to believe it too and opened a new restaurant in the space with almost exactly the same concept. It's not the same.
It throws me off track to think of all the places that are just..poof, gone. Gotta wonder if we'll be able to find new restaurants to make memories...that might stick around for a while.
