Was I just like that at that age?

I'm almost at the end of my 1st week of tutoring. Especially compared to my previous job, this is such a relaxing experience. Of course (groups of) students need to let out some steam every now and then, but in general ours seem so disciplined: they actually practise when asked. Unfortunately, that's the way it works over here. But what really shocked me was the level most of them are at. After at least 4 years of English classes our typical freshman still needs to be introduced into this language. That implies covering simple subjects, such as plurals, articles and word order. Thanks God there's the occasional 'talent', who can communicate on a very welcome level.

Oh, they've just added an extra element of fun at school. Our whiteboards are on the verge of being replaced by so-called smart boards, which are connected to pcs. That means you can show anything you like on that smart board. Anything you'd normally have to practise on a pc. It's really one giant computer screen and your hand's the mouse. It's so much fun using it!
