Steve and I had time on our hands, so we decided to visit this crummy side-street bookstore that goes by the name of Book Bank. At many times, I find such things as intelligence and pure understanding in the most startling of places, and today, i was once again surprised. As we walked in, the door sounded the ding of our arrival and we were quickly greeted by the old lady behind the counter. "Do you need any help?" she asked pleasantly. I decided to give her a go. "I was wondering if you had anything by douglas copeland". "Oh, of course" she exclaimed, and ushered me to some hidden part of this small un-tidy store. Apparently, she was quite rehearsed in copeland and had a small discussion of his works with me while steve stood idly by, perusing the "Like the movie? read the book!" section. After I made my selection, feeling quite elated at finding a book that seemed so diffucult to find only months before, I decided to test Claire once more, but with one author very different from Copeland, less known, with only three books to his name(well, that i know of). "I was curious if you had the second book to Peretti's "Darkness" series" i asked quizzically. "Frank E. Peretti?" she replied. Awestruck, I simply nodded. Not only did she know of him, but she also had many formulated opinions of his published books. Quite surprised, the old lady and I began another conversation, discussing the author's true meaning behind his books. After my purchase, and steve's reluctant buy of Ayn Rand's "Anthem"(I made him buy it), i left the bookstore very content, and very sure of another return visit.

p.s. Plus, she gave us free tickets to I, Robot!
