Youth is explosion!

I saw Mrs. Tartoni today. For those of you from GBHS that don't know, she has retired. And more surprisingly, she is engaged and is set to get married in October. I never thought she would get married again...or retire.

Also, I have been wondering a lot about seminary and what it takes to get in. A lot of seminarians are going into the pastoral ministry as their second career, or they are going to the seminary from a secular university. The way CUAA described the seminary test, it sounded as if you had to pass it to get into the seminary. Yet some people who enter the seminary don't really have enough background in religion or the ability to learn it before going to seminary. So I decided to ask my seminarian friend a few questions regarding the matter:

unrivaled apex (5:10:52 PM): Just wondering...for the test to get into seminary, how much greek and hebrew do you need to know?
Capn Crackk (5:10:58 PM): Hmm....
Capn Crackk (5:11:10 PM): A fair amount, I'd say.
Capn Crackk (5:11:17 PM): I actually didn't pass. I have to take the classes now.
unrivaled apex (5:12:12 PM): hmm...so, if you don't pass the greek and hebrew parts, you have to take the classes at the seminary? Or if you don't do well enough on the greek and hebrew parts you can't go to seminary?
Capn Crackk (5:12:35 PM): Oh, you can still go. You just have to take classes at seminary.
Capn Crackk (5:12:41 PM): I think it's that way for all of the tests, actually.
unrivaled apex (5:12:52 PM): aaaah
unrivaled apex (5:13:05 PM): That makes me feel a LOT better about not taking greek and hebrew at Concordia now.
Capn Crackk (5:13:11 PM): If you don't pass anything it adds another two or three years to the curriculum, though.
Capn Crackk (5:13:20 PM): ...and you can't take any other classes until you get the core stuff out of the way.
unrivaled apex (5:13:28 PM): So you can still go, but how well you do on the tests determines what level of classes you take?
Capn Crackk (5:13:46 PM): Yeah. There's the five core competencies that you have to do before you can take any other classes.
Capn Crackk (5:16:29 PM): Yes! It is not so insurmountable! Press on to the goal!
Capn Crackk (5:16:32 PM): Youth is explosion!
unrivaled apex (5:16:46 PM): GAI SENSEI!!
Capn Crackk (5:16:56 PM): REEEE!

Now I feel really euphoric. College might take a while, but now I don't really fear going into the seminary. In fact, I want to do it.

Also, this will probably be my last LJ entry before I leave for college. I'm not sure what the internet situation will be. The freshmen down there seem to be able to access the internet already, so maybe I will be able to access it tomorrow.
