Tea and...

Courtesy of some reading I've just done, I have An Idea. It is by no means a reasonable or sane Idea, having wandered over from left field while I was happily sitting on third base reading Metaquotes, stolen my brain, shoved it through the verbal equivalent of a wood chopper on Frappe' setting, then poured the remaining goo back into my head along with a piece of rather grubby paper on which the general outline of the Idea was scribed. The Idea itself is this:

Tea party + rave = AWESOME.

When next we have money, I'm going to stalk the Dollar Tree and local thrift stores, looking for interesting mugs and teacups, and maybe a teapot or three. Once I've gotten the household dish total up to a silly level, I will be posting An Official Invite here and on my other journal, as well as emailing invites to people I suspect notice my online presence about once every three months but who I do see pretty regularly IRL.

I've got several sources for assorted... erm... special extras, shall we say, though if you want something other than leafy greens or fungi, I will need at least a week's advance warning. Guests will be expected to contribute to the party, some small amount, nothing huge, but enough to help cover the costs of the mind-altering substances. There will indeed be cake. Also tea sammiches, delicate cookies, biscuits, crumpets, the whole nine yards. Guests are encouraged to bring interesting snacks and their favorite type of tea, and there will also be several types of tea provided in case you don't have any/don't feel like bringing what you have/don't know what tea is/are terrified of taking your tea out of the house in case it somehow mutates in direct sunlight and tries to take over the world.

There may be readings of humorous poetry or short stories. There will definitely be lots of music, most of it classical, celtic, and/or techno. Glowsticks will be provided for anyone interested in them.

Yes, I'm enjoying the hell out of this idea.

rave, mad hatter, teaparty
