Because I am that shallow when stoned out of my gourd...

So I am on a LOT of pain medication, heavy antibiotics, and briefly being at my computer. I could write something meaningful and useful but it would seriously depress me (more on this at some point, I swear), so instead I'm doing a meme. Yay ( Read more... )

Sure, I'll play along...

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

Opening Credits:
"Les Toreadors" - Georges Bizet
Sure, that could work; it would kick off things with some high energy. A rollicking tune that is one of those "classical" pieces of music that everyone has heard but doesn't know the name of.

Waking Up:
"Cursum Perficio" - Enya
Uhm... Okay. Kind of ominous and scary, but with a hint of struggling joy. No comment as to how closely that relates to my mornings.

First Day at School:
"Pathetique" by Beethoven
Over three thousand songs in my library and I get two from the same classical album? ::sigh:: I suppose it works. Kind of soft and jittery, which is as good a description of kindergarten as any I suppose.

Falling In Love:
"Canon in D" - Pachebel, arranged by the Canadian Brass
Heh... Canon in D is one of my favorite songs, and I'm a sucker from brass instruments of all types. I suppose this is as good a song as any for falling in love... It starts off with one lonely instrument that playing a soft and simple tune that is joined by other instruments to become a complex group piece that builds to a crescendo.

Losing Virginity:
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - Paul Dukas
Another classical song, but this time from a different album. Dukas wrote this 43 year before Disney used it in Fantasia, by the way. This song works... Sort of slow and steady before building into a frenzied uncontrollable finale. Ten minutes would be waaay too long though... :P

Fight Song:
"Rambling Round" - Woody Guthrie
This is where the meme breaks down completely... Then again, I can't imagine having a "fight song"...

Breaking Up:
"Concerto for 2 Trumpets, Strings and Continuo in C, Allegro" - Canadian Brass
Canadian Brass again? ITunes really needs to work on it's shuffle randomness... Nothing much to say... Way to happy and chirpy, though I suppose I will be a bit less miserable once my current break up is over (maybe).
Prom:
"Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" - Bob Dylan
Nope. Don't see it. No one was stoned or got stoned at my prom... Not me at least.

Life:
"La Virgen de la Macarena" - Canadian Brass
I swear, I only have about a dozen songs by the Canadian Brass... No real comment other than that... While my life has been touched by hispanic elements now and then, Mexican and Spanish culture really hasn't affected me.

Mental Breakdown:
"Cold Light" - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
A good song for a breakdown, I suppose, but my journeys in to depression are more of a general winding down, not a -break- down, except on rare occasion when I obsess and dither over a small detail.

Driving:
"Now We Sit Us Down" - Pete Seeger
Another one that makes no sense.

Flashback:
"Jersey Bounce" - Benny Goodman
Perfect, since I grew up mostly in New Jersey.

Getting Back Together:
N/A... I've never gotten back together with someone.

Wedding:
"Beale Street Blues" - Canadian Brass
Them AGAIN? Shuffle is useless. Next one though was "Prelude to the Marriage of Figarro", which at least would have fit the theme.

Birth of a Child:
"Medianoche en Madrid (Midnight In Madrid)" - Mark Baldwin
Something else I've never experienced, either first hand or by close proxy. At least it's not freakin' Canadian Brass again. Nice song, though I doubt childbirth is as serene as the song is.

Final Battle:
"Symphony No. 4 'Italian', Mvt. 3: Con moto moderato" - Mendelssohn, performed by the Royal Philharmonic.
Lousy theme music for a final battle, except maybe if it were a chess match. Then again, I'm unlikely to have any other kind.

Death Scene:
"The Skaters Waltz" - Waldenteufel
Another one of those classics that people have heard but don't know the name of.... Bugs Bunny would hum it sometimes. I suppose this works... This scene would be one of those shots that slowly pan out of the scene, with the camera going higher and higher... Of course, I don't intend to ever die; so far my plan is a success.
