You close your eyes, and then you're gone...

I know I haven't posted here in a long time...probably since last summer. I didn't check. I have a more personal journal (karehasu ) that I manage to update more often.  This journal was originally intended mostly for fanfiction posts, but I haven't been writing much of that lately either. No excuses really--just stress and things changing. I still follow all the communities I'm a member of or watching when I can. A good story or simple drawing does wonders in lifting one's mood.

I graduated from college in May with honors (Magna Cum Laude) and  a B.A. in English, journalism, and French. However, I couldn't find a job in my field so I applied for the Disney College Program. I got accepted and I'm working at Disney World from August until early January. I'll be working at the front desk of one of the resorts. I'm certainly excited...what's not to love about Disney? But I can't help but being disappointed I couldn't find "a real job." I tell myself it isn't just me--only 20 percent of 2009 graduates had secured a job by graduation.  All the same...a slight depression seems to hang in the background.

Anyway, my original intent was to take a moment to say goodbye to an online acquaintance. Angel Yates, known as Inqy at deviantart.com and labile on livejournal, passed away earlier this month. I only discovered this about an hour ago online. I follow her on deviantart and decided to look in on her latest creations, only to see the tragic news. She was so gifted. I believe she just graduated from art school in June. I had the pleasure of communicating with her in June 2008 when I commissioned a piece of art from her. It's me with a line of my original writing sharing it with my fishies. It's hanging in a frame on the wall in my bedroom this very moment. Funny, kind, and always professional in our e-mails...she was truly talented. Much of her beautiful, whimsical art can be found at her personal website and portfolio online at inqy.in

Under the cut is a digital copy of my commissioned piece from Inqy

She called it "Jax," after my nickname.
