and finally monsieur - a wafer thin mint

Saturday May 14th, 2011.

I had an incredible brunch in downtown Vancouver today with the girlfriends. We hadn't seen each other for a while due to sickness/schedules/overseas travel so it was lovely to catch up. We dined at The Elbow Room on Davie Street. A small cafe as famous for it's simple and declicious food as it is for it's no nonsense approach to customer service. The customer, it would appear, is not always right. There are rules on th front page of the menu asking you to please LEAVE when you are done dining so that people waiting can take a seat. They warn that the menu is not PG rated (indeed lots of gay jokes abound) and that if you don't finish your meal you are required to make a donation to their charity which is a bloody clever idea. So far they have raised over $60,000 for 'A Loving Spoonful' that provides meals for people homebound due to AIDS.

Top left is mine: French Toast with banana, blueberries, bacon and maple syrup. We all knocked back our meals with some awesome milkshakes

We then walked around Gastown (beautiful part of the city) as one of our group was visiting from out of town

And then, against the small voice in the back of my head screaming "NOOOO DON"T," I ate a Deep Fried Mars Bar

It's sweet. Like, crazy sweet. Especially after the amount of sugar I had in my brunch. At some point I thought I really should throw it in the rubbish but dude I couldn't! It was like I had a sudden urge to sabotage my diet in one day. Mission accomplished. But oh so yummy!

Bonus pic: Jaxie!

Sunday is going to be salad, gym, podfic and a grocery shop. Although in all honesty I think I might keep reading Arthur/Merlin fic because, against my better judgement time mangement skillz I appear to be developing another fandom.

breakfast, canada, photos, dining out
