Showcase Cinemas, my place of employment for three years is closing, and I'm graduating college in a few weeks. I suppose this will be motivation for me to actually go find a real job very quickly because I cannot live without money. What that real job may be is still up in the air...
The most obvious answer to that question is "something Computer-Science-related" since Computer Science is my major. It would be very good to get a Computer Science job, however the Computer Science industry is the bleakest job prospect this year, so my chances of getting any sort of Computer Science related job are not good.
More likely, I'll end up with another part-time job or some transition full-time job, such as secretary or mailroom person. This is what I do not want to happen because the longer I'm out of the Computer Science industry, the more out of date my knowledge will become and the more unlikely it is that I will ever find a job in that field.
But I've got a few more job ideas I'm working around... I'd really like to get something involving politics, for example. So... I may run for some sort of office (and lose). Since it is impossible for me to win any position currently, I'm also applying for the Human Rights Campaign Youth College, which could get me working on an actual political campaign come August. They accept thirty people, and whether that means I have a 0% or 100% chance of being accepted, I do not know.
Finally, at one of the job fairs I went to, the CIA was particularly interested in me (I know this because they had me fill out some application form that no one else was being asked to fill out). My friend Aaron and I once had plans to join the CIA, but he decided he was too good for me a while back. But this whole meeting at the job fair sparked my interested in this possibility a bit, so I am again considering applying to them. They e-mailed me saying the best time to apply is in August, so I will probably do that.
The future is impossible to predict! Or if you can predict the future, let me know.
