The Day the Music Died

Rest in Peace

Today is a sad day indeed. For the past two weeks my beloved 3rd generation ipod has been giving me troubles. Not starting...little folder telling me to go to support website...freezing...skipping songs...saying it's playing when it's really not. Ironically it starts working again on the way to the store.
So I go to the website and make an appointment to have the tech people look at mine. Cute guy who thinks it's awesome that Hme Dry signed my ipod tells me that that it seems there is a corrupt file and they will have to reformat it. It's free, and I'll loose all my music but I don't care b/c it's all on my computer anyway. He says give me a few minutes and goes in the back.
30 minutes later he comes back and says he's been trying but my hard drive is dead...and not fixable. Ironically now it isn't working at all.
So...my choices are
buy a new 3rd generation for $69
or
Get an extra 10 % off a new one...

All but one vote (my dad's) so far have gone towards save up for the new one...(which is going to be hard cos I have to spend like 600 on convention this sumer...100 on a gym membership...and save up for next semester when i'll be student teaching.)
suggestions and donations are welcome.

And ps...I'm really glad I just got awesome sharper image speakers for my ipod that I can't use now for my 21st birthday! Argh!
