Wow, that was a slight waste of time.
I just thought i'd update real quick.
I'm done classes. Thank God. Now I have a couple of weeks to just be a complete idiot.
My dad is coming home for Christmas. Should be interesting. I'm debating what to do about dealing with his family. It's going to be interesting this year. My mom is pissed because her and Mark feel like that have to drop everything every time he comes home. My dad's family is generally pissy because they don't like Cathy and because I am so insistent in Jen being at family functions.
Katie is pissed at my mom for voicing objections about me and Katie automatically going to my aunt's house (dad's side) for Christmas dinner because it takes away from the rest of the family. It's not fair anyway because my dad's family doesn't usually give a shit about the two of us with the exception of the occasional holiday and my mom and Mark's families are pretty involved and they don't really get to see us.
I'm pissed because I am practically obligated to go to dinner at my aunt's, which I hate. They stuff their faces, spend twenty minutes ripping open gifts (which are always more high quality than anything they get me or Katie, mainly because we're realted to my mom) and then they get shitfaced and act like assholes, thinking they're hilarious, which they're not, even for drunks. On top of that, they don't like Jen (mainly because i'm dating a girl who has some semblance of a Jewish heritage, even though she's Catholic, goes to a prominent Catholic university, and is involved with the church that my grandmother, the main bitch of the family, goes to. Oh, and she's dating me, and they hate me) I'd rather go to Mark's mom's house. It's a nice dinner, we laugh and have fun, there's no stupid drunkeness, and they love Jen, so she's more comfortable. I wou;d rather go to Sandy's(Mark's mom) and then go to my aunt's for dessert. By then, i've missed the crappy dinner conversation, which will go like this:
Uncle Larry: I'm starving. (We like Uncle Larry.)
Aunt Jane: Crisitn, tell us about your new boyfriend.
Cousin Cristin: (babbles on for ten minutes about her latest romantic prospect and how they're somehow not right for each other, mainly because she had the right guy two years ago and broke it off because she's a fucking idiot)
Cousin Meghan: (babbles on about how she's going to marry a rich guy or live with her dad forever and then talks about a recent drinking binge)
Uncle Dave: (laughs a little bit, makes small talk, and eats. We like Uncle Dave.)
Aunt Donna: (rambles on about something cute Cousin Jessica is and how much of an asshole Cousin Ryan is)
Cousin Ryan: (Grunts and eats his food. He will eventually be prodded about a possible girlfriend by Cristin, Meghan, and Aunt Jane. I feel sorry for the kid sometimes. He can't catch a break.)
Cousins Jamie and Jessica and my sister: (Try to join in conversation or just hang out in the basement and watch TV.)
Grandmom: (Bitches about how she wishes she was dead and then brings up a subject which I will have a different opinion on.)
Dad: (Talks a little bit with me, Katie, and Grandmom, but will ultimately be ignored for moving away)
Cathy: (Tries to join in conversation with family and is recieved but will be bitched about later.)
Me: (Will try to eat peacefully, but will argue with Grandmom over whatever subject she brings up, in which it will be made clear, once again, that I am the black sheep of the family because I basically don't practice Catholicism anymore and I am a Democrat.)
Then they'll all stampede into the living room to simultaneously rip open presents and make one another feel like royalty even though my Cousin Jennifer, her husband Marty, and my Uncle Larry are the only really successful ones in the family, and then proceed to get shitfaced, which won't take long (my family has, collectively, a very low tolerance), and then do something remarkably stupid, even for drunk people, and laugh at themselves for their ingenious humor.
SHOOT ME NOW.
I can't wait until Jen and I are on our own and we can split our time more evenly between our families, which will involve seeing my dad's family A LOT less. I like my mom's family, I like Mark's family, and I like Jen's family. At least they give a shit about me.
That's about all I can write tonight. I'll write again soon.
