After announcing they'd mailed off a little something for the holidays to those of us who'd gotten free books and did reviews, I assumed it was a card. I'm so glad I was wrong! Here's what came in the mail today:
Hmmm suspicious book-shaped package.
What is this? A Hardcover copy of Tom Rob Smith's debut thriller novel?!
...and it's SIGNED??
Sweet. I smell a review comin' on... :)
I post this first to mask the tragedy of my potato and cheese bread.
As you can see from the evidence (on my children's Star Wars dinner plate!):
the middle looks rather doughy, but that could just be the mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, it also tastes doughy, but damnit all, I'm eating it anyway. I splashed some of my mother's homemade (non sweet) molé over it and topped the whole thing off with a sprinkle of chopped nopales (cooked cactus leaf). Mmmmm.
ETA: After some quick Googling, looks like the mushy middle is normal and yes, it's because of the potatoes. I'm still a little sad it didn't wind up looking like the picture in the cookbook, though. Ah, perfection. You elusive beast.
