Hey guys

Hey everyone how’s it going? It’s been awhile since I’ve actually had time to write in here but there’s not better time than the present huh! Well school has been going pretty well lately, just really busy. I’ve been having to do a lot of reading that I enjoy, but these last few days I’ve been feeling a bit unmotivated to actually do any sort of substantial work. I guess the fact that Spring Break is just around the corner, in addition of the really bad weather we’ve been having, is working against me in my mission to end the semester strongly!

This week is going to be somewhat crazy just because midterms begin next week and I really need to be on the ball for all of them. I know I’m not going to FAIL, but then again I really want to get my A’s on those exams, and not just the A’s on the homework that’s been turned in thus far. The only class that I’m really scared about is my V669 - Economic Development course. Not so much because the material is difficult, but more so because of the fact that we’ve only been in school for about 2 months and we’re going to be tested on chapters 1 thru 12! A little excessive don’t you think? I mean come on, how does the prof. really expect everyone to read 400 pages of theory and still have time to do the work for the other 3 classes that we’re required to take! I really need to stop complaining about how bad school is, I’m here because I want to be here - not because someone help me against a wall and said “YOU HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL.” Well, in all honestly they kinda sorta did - thanks mom! :-p

The only other real updates are that I’m moving in the fall, and that I found a really cool internship that I’m hoping to get in SF this summer

To begin with the whole moving thing. My friends Johnny and Eric asked if I’d want to live with them this fall in a house closer to our department. Although my rent does go up, living with people from my department might come in handy because I’ll have two people to ask questions on homework as they arise! Yet, looking at the other side of the coin, living with two other guys who are just as addicted to Playstation and Xbox as I am, I’m not really sure how much of that homework we’re actually going to be doing! Also, I’m not moving because I don’t like my current roommate, I actually really enjoy her company. I’m doing it more because I’d be a nice change. It’d be nice to actually have a house, have a back yard, and be able to throw some parties or BBQ’s when the weather starts to get a bit nicer!

As for the internship, I found an internship with the Public Policy Institute of California, and I’m really hoping that I get it. Although it doesn’t really pay much, $16/hr, I’m pretty sure I can survive on that much money if I’m working full time in the bay area. I won’t be able to live in Pac Heights, but then again I’m not going to have to live in the TL or Hunters Point. I’ll just have to learn to be really frugal with my money and save for the following school year. If I were to get this internship, I’d have to make sure to really kick butt and do really well over the summer and hopefully be hired as a full-time employee next summer. Were I to work with the PPIC for a year or two after my masters, I’m practically guaranteed admittance to either Stanford of Berkeley’s PhD in Public Policy! I guess I’ll just take it one step at a time. Step one: getting the summer internship!

Actually no take that back, step one: making sure I do well on my exams!

With that said I’m off to bed. Have a good one! ☺
