Because tonight I have a party and tomorrow I have a wedding, last night I decided to wake up early today (which I didn't, in the end) to watch the latest Grey's Anatomy episode (which I did, anyway) before going to work.
Of course, I skipped around a lot, but I got the essentials down, I think (of what I care about, of course). And I liked it. It wasn't really that special an episode, but I got so happy with the several Alex and Mer scenes I enjoyed it very much!
I liked how the "morning" scene went. How everyone is when they just have waken up. I laughed at how zombie-like it was for Alex to just "come to life" once the alarm is off. And of course April is so perky!... just to have her yawn an hour later.
While I wanted the hostility to keep going between Jackson and Alex, I was OK at how they just moved on from it. They're guys. They both have other issues to take care of. And maybe April gave Jackson the talk about not defending her if it's not *about her*, you know... OFF SCREEN, like everything good in this show!
I also liked how April wasn't OK with Alex and tried to ignore him. She wasn't whining about it, wasn't avoiding him, but she wasn't letting it go either because what he did is not just something you just forget. It was nice of her to talk to him at the end, though, moving on in her own way.
When I read the preview of this episode, I was apprehensive of the idea of Alex and Mer getting in trouble with Stark. Alex has been doing so well work-wise I just figured that was about to end to "teach him a lesson" on how he is still a resident and stuff can't always go his way during surgery (just like everything else in his life). Thankfully, the writers like the idea of showing Stark as an ass better, and decided to keep the "Alex is an awesome paeds surgeon" storyline. I was kinda sad that Mer *didn't know* how awesome Alex is, but I guess it's understandable. It's hard to picture Alex *telling* her how his surgeries have gone and how he plans on becoming a paeds surgeon, even though they should have been scenes like that somewhere (off screen!) in the last few months. In any case, now she knows! And now it comes another scene (off screen!) of them both talking more about how they are the two left standing, how they are more confident about their abilities now, how stupid is Cristina being, and mock-praise each other on how good they are while sharing a beer.
Can we have an episode with the "younger" crew hanging around Joe's for a whole night while the attendings work? I would like that. Have the personal and fun moments between Alex, Mer and the rest, just hanging out, *without* the "grown ups" butting in. I know over the years there have been lots of fun scenes at Joe's, we even got a small one a few episodes ago. But they kind of need a whole night out, and the opportunity of actually *talk* to each other and getting to know themselves better. Hell, I think having fun at Meredith's house without Derek would be even better! I really liked both scenes in the car just the five of them. I want more of that!
Drunks attendings moving around the hospital? not fun! It's unprofessional to show up to your work place drunk! What if one of the patients' family, whom have they talked to several times before and/or after surgeries, saw them? That's just, stupid.
I know the thing with Jackson having nightmares of Charles is suppose to be about not being able to move on because his "brother" is dead... but I totally get the slash vibe. I don't know if it is because this show is lacking in the slash department for some time now (except for the Mark/Alex thing a few weeks ago) and I want more, or because I would think it's sweet and tragic if Jackson had any kind of feelings for Charles he never got to do anything about. Maybe they just fooled around and it didn't mean anything, but the idea of being alive when the other isn't and being stuck... it's interesting. I think.
I can't think of anything more to say for now...
