the Sakura Girl PV is out...
So...
I totally hated the new NEWS PV.
My main problem is with the lighting. I was so happy to find out they were going to have an "outside" PV, and they totally screw it up making it so fuzzy and pastel-like. There was nothing wrong with bringing a little more color in it. Or at least making it the same kind of fuzzy for everyone! The individual shoots all look different!
Next, of course, is the pacing. I understood the need to make it a bit slow paced because there was a lot of wind the day of filming, but still, the song it's pretty fast-paced, and I like it more for it, because not all breakup songs need to be depressing and slow, but the PV totally ignores that fact going so slow, and of course, screwing with the "singing" part, that doesn't match the song at all.
And then, it's the freaking editing. It's sloppy, for starters, and not very creative. The jump to that one scene with the cellphones to make a statement about who is Pi talking to brakes away and comes back in such a horrible, unnecessary way it makes me mad, because it doesn't FIT. And it bugs me to no end that they decided to put Koyama in a night setting in an apartment when all the others are outside, in the (fuzzy) day light and in places that can be associated to one another somehow, like it all happened in the same park or something.
The guys look cute, at least. But why is Pi wearing the same shirt than Tegoshi? Pay attention! It's the same one!!
And then is the breakup scenes... OK, they made me laugh. Specially Koyama's because damn, that must've hurt! And why is it that most of them have such coward girlfriends than none of them face them to breakup properly? Cellphones, text messages, letters, notes... And least Shige's girl talked to him face to face before dumping him. And Ryo's... well, it seems he's the one that totally deserved being dumped, with that reaction!
The upside? I like the song. That's not new, but I do like it a lot. I like the lyrics, and I like the rhythm. I do think not many groups can make a song like this, with those lyrics and that rhythm work. I'm not surprised, though. Yamapi shows us his beautiful abs every time he sings to us about his relationship not working out even though they love each other so much. And Ryo loves to sing with a rock-ish sound about how he screws up every time he tries to express his feelings properly... and then there's the incredibly sad but oh so beautiful TegoMass song about not being able to be with the person they love... and the title of it is "Sneeze". And then there's "Chicken boy"... and have you ever pay attention to the lyrics of "Boku no Cinderella"? They're freaking depressing! But the song is so up beat about it, you can't get sad!
So yeah... YAY for the song. ARGH for the PV. Lets hope a better one will come next time. Maybe the next TegoMass one?
