I was more like WTH? Because most people don't have a clue where Chile is so to have it mentioned in such a random way in the middle of a Jdrama made me go LOL really hard XD Of course, I'm very happy it was part of a drama I liked so much. I usually HATE school dramas because the main plot tends to be too basic, but Nobuta was so good! One of my absolute favorites, for sure!

I have the same problem with Kdramas. I like that Jdramas make the story happen in just a small set of episodes. They manage to work the story a lot better that way. When it's more than 20, I think the story is gonna get dragged for too long. I've watched 3 Kdramas so far, and I've enjot them all, but I'd only rec two: On Air (21 eps) and Bad Family (16). What is You're Beautiful about?

Well, if in Romania they like telenovelas, I'm not surprised they enjoy Korean dramas as well. They're pretty similar, with the overly dramatic twists and evil stepmothers XD I don't know about history based dramas, though. It's kind of cool people there like to watch something so foreign! Specially if it makes them want to learn more about the country it comes from! I can't make heads or tails of Korean, which is a big problem because I like to be able to sing the songs I like. Japanese has the same phonetics than Chilean, and I did study the language for a few years, so it's way easier to fall in love with Japanese music for me.

If they're not the typical idol band, I think I'll check them out. I love pop music a lot, it cheers me up, but it's a lot of fun to find something a little bit different! Don't feel bad at one member getting all the attention... it means the group is being mentioned, at least? Is still early in the game for them. The other guys need to do some stuff on their own to be individually recognize, I guess.

I don't dislike DBSK, in any case. I already like some of their songs. I think I need to watch them live. I love concerts, it's what makes me fall in love with a band more than anything. I'll look around.

Unfair and Anego are the best ones of what I've watched of her. It's kind of ridiculous the amount of chemistry that woman has with younger guys (a mv of Unfair, so you can see what is about without spoilers). You know, I saw your fave jdrama list and I realized I've only watched half of the dramas you have there. It makes me wanna watch the others cus now I know I will be able to comment them with someone!

(as you can see, I have no problem with long posts XD)

I just watched that MV... I'm speechless and really shocked in a good way there's EITA too! I feel like abandoning the current drama that i'm watching (BOSS - which is also a good one) and start Unfair as soon as possible.
My Fave Jdrama list hasn't been updated in ages. I'll have to work on it someday.

You're beautiful is a comedy (really funny!) about a girl pretending to be her twin brother in order to become a member in a band. If you like comedies you'd enjoy this one for sure i assume. Of course there's a love triangle at some point but eh, what's Asian drama wthout it. And this lead singer in CNBLUE is one of the members of that band in You're Beautiful.
Actually, cnblue has been accused of plagiarism and i think they're starting to get many antis, i;m kind of fed up with Korean news when it comes to them actually. Their company decided to promote the one song on their mini-album which wasn't written/composed by them.

As for DBSK, i wouldn't even know what concert to recommend. If you like to just listen to their songs without much visual impact i'd say their Japanese concerts fit the description (the Secret Code in Tokyo Dome is the recent one) but if you want some action then their Korean cons are more lively (MIROTIC is the recent one and i would stay safe if i said i had enjoyed this one to the max).

I thought i was the only one thinking that Kdrama is similar to South American soap operas. XD I watched Shining Inheritance which glued me the screen (maybe Han Hyo Joo whom i adore had her part in me liking this drama) but some parts of the stories are a major turn off ie the rich family who doesn't accept the nice girl in their house. But their characters were still hilarious with all this hate towards her. I guess here's the difference between kdrama and telenovelas. I'm not really sure what's happeing in telenovelas nowadays though, it's been a long time since i last watched one.
I'll search on wiki for ON AIR and Bad Family.
And yes i agree, Korean sounds so wrong to my ears. The sad part for me is that when i first heard it i confused it with French. Y___Y
Great you've been studying Japanese! Was it for a short period of time or a longer one?

I'm really curious as to how did the producers of NWP find out about the piggies. It's amazing how much envolved and curious about the rest of the world they are!
I see why you hate school drama. I don't hate them but i skip them usually. :'D

Unfair is not the best drama I've watched, it kinda drags during the middle and to some stuff you just scream "wth, people? get a grip!!" but if you like mysteries like I do, you'll enjoy the twists, and there are many of them! Ryoko/Eita are one of my fav actors combi, their interaction towards the end of the drama is fantastic! Though, this drama also broke my heart, just so you know T.T

I watched BOSS. It's a fun drama! Plot-wise is very predictable and sloppy, but they make up for it with quirky characters, nice camera work and a decent ost. I'm still surprised so many people liked it, though.

I found a fanvid about Bad Family. It has spoilers for the main couple, but the story is bigger than that, it's a family comedy :) I don't usually like comedies, but there are exceptions, so I'm downloading You're beautiful as we speak. Let's see if I get enough of a break this week to watch it ^^

The Korean fandom is way too scary for me to understand. I don't get the point of using so much time and energy to go against some group you don't like. It doesn't make sense at all. Lets just hope CNBLUE gets more fans than antis.

Why is there such a big difference between Japanese cons and Korean ones for DBSK? I think I'll watch MIROTIC, mostly because I've seen it around already. I want action!! XD

Before I became a geography major I was studying translation for a few years, English and Japanese. I didn't finish and my Japanese is crappy as hell, but I understand the basics of it and my ear is used to it. I like languages so I've studied a lot of them, but it doesn't come easy for me, sadly.

I wonder as well, the fun thing is that every time I met a fan of the drama, they exclaim "the country with the piggies!!" It never ceases to amuse me ;)

I finished BOSS last night (man did i enjoy that Nodate-san character?) and also managed to watch the first episode of Unfair. I surely didn't expect the bed scene to be in the first episode. XD And how i missed Shinohara's voice. I'll have to watch more to make an impression though; it happened the same with BOSS because i found the first 2 or 3 episodes a bit boring plot-wise but it got better eventually. And i was surprised to see Shida Mirai play that character in the 6th episode. I really like the girl even though she annoyed the hell out of me in 14sai no Haha. I also didn't expect BOSS to gather so much attention among International fans, that's a good start. Wonder when will they start shooting for the second season. I need Nodate back. XD

Bad Family looks funny indeed, i'll give it a try when i find enough time for a Korean drama. I see Kim Hee Chul among the cast too.

re the difference between Korean and Japanese DBSK concerts: i think it's because of the audience. The Korean fans are crazier wilder while the Japanese ones prefer standing still and enjoying the show (mostly ballads).

I think i understand you. I love foreign languages but it's really hard for me to hold conversations in anything other than English no matter how many years i'd studied before. I only studied Japanese for a few months though 3 years ago but i definitely want to start it all over again!

It had that much impact on viewers of NWP. ^__^ I even know some people who found the website that sells the piggy and bought them.

Nodate totally stole the show in BOSS. And there's gonna be a second season? Nice. Toda Erika is pretty much rocking second seasons by now! She's the reason I decided to watch the drama, but it was the title opener (with the whole group looking so freakingly HOT) and Nodate that made me stay and keep up with the basic plot twists.

Did you see Tamayama Tetsuji's name in Eita and Ueno Juri's drama? Have you watched anything else beside Tatta Hitotsu no Koi of Kitagawa Eriko? I'm pretty psyched she's writing a drama once again! Sadly, I also saw that a Korean model (actress?) is getting the lead in Kimura's drama, which I think is a shame. But better her than some of the 20-something actresses he has worked with lately...

I warned you Unfair drags the story some, I don't think I started liking it until half the story was told. I guess I just put a lot of faith sometimes, to keep going. Same was for Security Police. It wasn't a bad drama, but it was slooooooow (which was a problem because it was an ACTION drama!). Still, it was Okada and Tsutsumi Shinichi as leads so I decided to keep going and when I got to the end, it BLEW ME AWAY! To the point it's one of my favorites dramas ever just for that ending! The movies is coming out this year, I'm jumping-up-n-down-excited waiting to get my hands on it because damn, that's a story that needed a resolution!!

As long as you keep watching Japanese dramas and movies and listening to the music, your ears will stay sharp and "in tune" with the language. I think that's the only reason I haven't forgotten everything after so long!

The guy who plays Nodate was awesome (and i love his voice - i have a thing for people's voice) and I didn't watch any of his drama apparently. Maybe i should now.
I haven't heard of a second season yet but i'm assuming it's going to happen since the last scene of the drama was showing her in the airport and at the end they wrote something along the lines of see you next time. And considering the quite good ratings, i really think Fuji will take the chance with a second season.

I'm eagerly waiting for Eriko-san's drama. I see most people don't like this twitter idea but when i first read about it, i was reminded of a Hollywood movie with Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks (?) where they started talking through emails and fell in love eventually. It was sweet so i'm hoping this one will be too. Orange Days is the other drama i had watched of Kitagawa Eriko and i'm waiting for Heaven's Postman as well since it was not only written by her but also has Jae Joong from DBSK & one of my favorite Korean girls, Han Hyo Joo. And i have wanted to watch One Million Stars Falling from the Sky but Fukatsu Eri is a major turn-off for me.

I see you're a major fan of police drama. I love them as well but i'm also craving for comedy & romance.
But not comedy as in Yamanade, i swear i tried liking this drama but it's just.. no. Not even for Tego & Uchi, i cannot continue watching it. But i tried reading the manga a few years ago and couldn't finish that one also.

And that lady who's rumoured to co-star with Kimutaku, i think she's Chinese? Her name looks Chinese to me anyway. I guess no Shinohara this time, i wonder if she's the one refusing offers coz it's been some time since she played in a drama series.

A few months before BOSS I watched Yankee Bokou ni Kaeru, a school drama with Takenouchi Yutaka as the lead (and Shinohara Ryoko showed up there too!), I liked him there too, but as Nodate he pretty much rocked! If you like the "teacher that cares" stories you may like that one. I valued that fact that it was about a real school, and what that school is doing for kids in Japan today, but the drama wasn't anything extraordinary. It had a good cast, though.

I actually like almost all genres out there. I end up liking dramas for a lot of different reasons, but it's true that I like a good twist the best and good police dramas make that happen more often. Still, I don't have a favorite genre. I've tried them all at least once!

I'll give you my favorites list, see if you can get an idea of my taste (from less to top fav):
Unfair, One Million Stars Falling from the Sky, Nodame Cantabile, Hero, Triangle, Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Code Blue, Anego, Orange Days, First Kiss, Love Shuffle, Change, Sore wa Totsuzen Arashi no you ni, Stand Up!!, Proposal Daisakusen, Security Police, Tiger & Dragon, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Nobuta wo Produce, Long Love Letter.

The only drama that's closer to comedy I think it's Kisarazu? Maybe Tiger & Dragon as well, but the comedy here is very "Japanese" sometimes, or just waaaaay out there in most of others, so not everyone gets it. I think both dramas are pretty much the best thing I've seen when it comes to making a drama. You watched IWGP, right? Same scriptwriter, more humor, a LOT less violence! (and several of the same actors and directors)

I tried watching Yamanade as well. Just... no. The whole plot is too stupid for me to take. Not to mention the sloppy camera work and not really the best performances... so no. Ug.

Shinohara had a baby last year or the year before, that's why she stopped working on dramas. She's back in the game now, supposedly, that's why there are drama rumors of her once again ^^
