Title: Perfect
Fandom: JE, TegoMass
Characters: Tegoshi, Massu (mentions of several others)
Summary: Tegoshi wants his relationship with Massu to take the next step, finally, except, the timing is always off...
Notes: For tsukikipin and je_holiday. I read too many fics where Tegoshi gets his way, so I wanted to try something different. Poor Tego XD

Now, right now, it is time.

Actually, Tegoshi is sure it was time long ago. The day before, last week, last month. But they were going slow, at their own pace, no hurries.

Well, Tegoshi is all for going fast, but Massu likes taking his time on everything. And they had been busy, and insecure, so it was OK that it didn't happened before.

Except, Tegoshi is making sure it happens NOW. Because it's freaking time already!

So, he plans the perfect date. For them, anyway. They will go shopping first, because one of Massu's favorite store is on sale. Then, they will go eat to a place close by, and Tegoshi will tell Massu he took care of everything to go to the countryside for the weekend, just the two of them.

Yes, a little too forward on his part, but he knows Massu doesn't mind. Tegoshi is always the one making the plans when it comes to them. He doesn't want people knowing he likes to be in charge of things, because it would mean they could stop doing for him the things Tegoshi doesn't want to do himself, but Massu understands it, and lets him take the lead with easy amusement on his face every time Tegoshi comes up with a new date plan.

He is late, though. Massu was suppose to meet him forty minutes ago. That's twenty minutes later than what it usually takes him to get to their dates. He talked with him the day before, Massu couldn't have forgotten so quickly, so he probably has a good reason. Hopefully.

Tegoshi stares at his phone for the longest time, waiting for it to make a sound. Massu doesn't like text messages, but he's not answering his cell either. He better be calling him any moment now...

Nantoka Naru Sa starts playing in his machine. Massu's name shows up in the screen. Finally! He clicks to answer.

"Tegoshi? Are you still in Harajuku?"

"Of course I am. Where are you?"

"Outside the jimusho." Massu sounds excited. "I just got out of a meeting, I didn't think it was going to take so long."

Tegoshi sighs.

"You have to make it up to me," he decides, making sure his pouting crosses over the phone line. "While I waited I found several t-shirts that I liked..."

Massu doesn't seem to be listening, though, someone on the other side is talking too.

"Tego, can you come over here?" He asks then. "We're going to be at that yakiniku place close to the jimusho."

"We?"

"I just got offered to work on a drama with Nakamaru-kun!"

The confusion finally is dissipated.

"What? That's fantastic! I'm happy for you, Massu." And he is, really, but then a question surfaces, "are you with Nakamaru-kun right now?"

"Yes, our managers are taking us out to celebrate. I want you to come too!"

"But, our date..."

"I'm really sorry," Massu pauses. "We can go shopping afterwards, right? I'm getting the pilot script tomorrow, so everything got a little hectic, I won't have time to celebrate afterwards."

"Wait, tomorrow? But..."

"It's about rescue fighters, or something like that. They told me to start training right away. We're gonna meet real rescue people and all, isn't it awesome?"

Tegoshi sighs again. He feels Massu's smile from his side of the phone call. He guesses his perfect night planned with Massu is going to wait a little longer. It's not time yet.

------------------------------------

After that failed plan, opportunities to be together and go out are close to none. Massu is always exhausted because of the training for his new drama, and then he gets even busier when he starts promoting the release of a song as TU->YU with other Johnnys. On top of that, the concert tour continues all over the country...

A weekend away is out of the question, so something small will have to do. Tegoshi manages to convince his parents to have an evening out and he asks his grandma to take Tinny to her hairstyle and massage appointment late in the day. He has the house all to himself and he plans to make Massu comfortable and then... Then, it will definitely happen!

"Are you sure this is OK?" Massu asks once he arrives, "we can just eat out or something..."

"My grandma already cooked something for us. Come on, you're gonna like it."

Massu enjoys the food, just like Tegoshi expects he would. Massu talks about work and Nakamaru almost falling down the stairs during training and how Nagano-senpai had taken him and Hikaru out to eat the day before. Tegoshi talks about soccer and going out with Nagase-kun. Both of them listen attentively to the other, because they are friends as much as they are a couple, and it is a nice ritual for them to talk like this over food.

After finishing everything up, they move to the couch and they comfortably cuddle up together.

"I'm still sore all over," Massu comments with a laugh.

"You seem comfortable here," Tegoshi points out.

His boyfriend smiles, "that's because I'm with you."

Tegoshi smiles back and gets close for a kiss. And then another, and another...

Massu laughs a little between kisses, and moves so Tegoshi can be completely on top of him. It feels nice, and natural, being like this.

But Tegoshi doesn't even manage to take off his shirt (or Massu's) when he starts to hear Summary very loudly and out of nowhere.

"Where's is that coming from?"

Massu moves again to reach something in his back pocket, almost throwing Tegoshi out of the couch. It's his cell ringing. He answers with Tegoshi still on top of him.

"Ah, Shoon!"

Tegoshi can't follow the conversation because all that Massu does is comment with affirmative gestures to whatever it is Shoon is talking about. Tegoshi decides to continue the kissing session to make Massu drop the call, but instead he makes Massu uncomfortable. They end up separating themselves and sitting properly, Massu still on the phone.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. No... yes, OK." After five minutes, Massu finally hangs up. He sighs.

"Is everything OK?" Tegoshi asks. Massu looks deep in thought. "Massu?"

"Ah, yeah." He looks back at him, "seems I said something to Hikaru yesterday I shouldn't have. Shoon heard it from Yabu-kun so he needed confirmation."

Tegoshi gets a little confused. He doesn't know what could have Massu said to cause a problem...

"Is Shoon-kun angry at you?"

"More like Yabu is angry at him..." Massu gets up and starts fixing himself up, straightening his hair and shirt. "I'm sorry, Tegoshi, I have to go."

"But..."

"I'll make it up to you!"

And just like that, Massu leaves him all alone, without even a proper hard on to work with by himself.

------------------------------------

Massu really tries making it up to him. A few days after their ruined date Massu explains what happened between himself and three-quarters of ex-Ya-Ya-yahs. Well, he explains vaguely because talking about it was what got him in trouble in the first place. It seems that Shoon and Yabu have something going on and didn't told Hikaru about it. Yabu was waiting for the right time, but Massu had seen them together by accident and commented on it to Hikaru that time they went out with Nagano-senpai. It was all an unnecessary misunderstanding because Hikaru seems very happy with the news, but it became an issue because they have to be more careful in the future anyway.

Massu invites Tegoshi over as much as he can to make up for all the trouble, but now it is him the one extremely busy with tapping for ItteQ and soccer practice. Even the day NEWS celebrates both his and Nishikido-kun's birthdays, they end up with an improvised sleep over in Koyama and Shige's room and it would have been rude of them to leave.

For the real date of his birthday, though, Massu asks him out to eat to a fancy restaurant Tegoshi loves and then promises to take him to a special place.

Tegoshi gets more excited by the second. It's the perfect scenario, the both of them dressed nicely (if colorful, in Massu's case), good food to accompany the conversation, and then a night together, closer together than they have ever been before...

"Where are you taking me?"

"Not saying."

Massu gives him a secretive smile, and Tegoshi laughs. They arrive to an equally fancy hotel, and once they're finally inside the building, Tegoshi takes Massu's hand with his and gets closer. He enjoys this idea of intimacy, it is... perfect.

Then, when they are alone in the elevator, Tegoshi corners Massu and starts kissing him.

"Tego..."

"This is perfect, Massu," he replies, not letting go, kissing him again. "Perfect, thank you."

"Just, wait. Stop." He finally separates himself from Tegoshi, now with an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry."

Tegoshi is confused. "Why?"

They get out of the elevator and Massu takes him by the hand to the rented room. It is dark inside, but only for a moment. Then the lights are suddenly on.

"SURPRISE!!!"

Tegoshi gets startled by the screams of his friends, all inside the room, waiting for him to arrive, to celebrate his birthday with him. He looks back to Massu and the apologetic expression is still on his face, but he's smiling. Tegoshi tries smiling back but he's pulled away from Massu receiving the hugs and greeting from his friends.

When there's finally a moment of calm during the celebration, Tegoshi finds Massu in a far corner, still smiling.

"They asked me to help them out with this before I asked you out, so I couldn't say no," he explains.

"I'm happy, really. It's incredibly nice of them." He hesitates, "but it woulda been nice to be just the two of us, too..."

"I know," Massu agrees. "We'll get another chance, though, don't worry about it."

------------------------------------

Tegoshi does worry about it. He knows the moment Massu starts filming for his drama they will have even less time to be together, and who knows what is he going to be busy with during the next month. Also, he realizes they are wasting away a great opportunity that always presents itself when they travel to a new city for the concert tour. By now they know all the steps and the lyrics by heart, and most of the concert locations they are already familiar with, no need to be so focused on the job, really.

Because of the timing, though, it is best to try out his plan during the morning, early, before anyone gets up, instead of at night when they're still tired from rehearsal.

And so, he calls for a very early breakfast to be delivered to the room, and only wakes Massu up when the food is ready.

"It's time to get up already?"

Tegoshi smiles. "Nop. Now move over, were having breakfast in bed."

That manages to wake Massu and makes him react. He moves, leaving enough space for Tegoshi to be comfortable and the tray he's carrying with food is left between them.

"What's the occasion?"

"Our hard work," Tegoshi explains. "We deserve this, right?"

Massu nods and offers his boyfriend some bread. They quietly enjoy the occidental meal the hotel prepared for them, without much conversation this time, is still too early in the morning for that.

Massu is the one going forward this time, though. The moment they finish with everything and move the tray away, Massu leans closer and kisses him sweetly in the lips.

"You taste like coffee," Massu tells him, and kisses him again. "I like coffee."

"You do not," contradicts Tegoshi, returning every touch, laughing lightly. "You just like me."

Massu stops to analyze Tegoshi's comment. "True," he acknowledges, "but I'd like coffee if it tasted like you."

Tegoshi laughs again, and lets Massu position himself on top of him. They keep kissing, their hands wandering down their shirts.

It is so nice, so, so nice...

Tegoshi manages to get Massu out of his shirt, and he moves his hands smoothly through Massu's naked torso. Massu seems to like it, eagerly biting his neck. Tegoshi can't be happier. Massu takes out his shirt too, and moves so he can slowly kiss all over Tegoshi's abdomen. It tickles sometimes, and Tegoshi loves it even more.

But then...

A knock at the door. Several, actually. They probably didn't hear the first ones. Tegoshi tries to ignore it. Massu is concentrated on him, still moving down, he doesn't listen. They're so close, finally close, getting there...

"Guys! You can't still be sleeping!" Shige exclaims through the other side of the door. "You were expected down there ten minutes ago. You're making all of us late!"

That, both Massu and him listened to.

"Shit." Tegoshi tries looking for his watch. "It can't be that late!"

They both painfully try to get up from the tangled mess they were together and run to the bathroom for a quick cold shower to cool themselves down and be presentable.

This is just their luck, to be interrupted again. Again! Tegoshi feels an amount of frustration he never thought possible for him. It's getting to be too much.

------------------------------------

A few days after that, Christmas is coming close and they get an unexpected afternoon off. Tegoshi doesn't waste time. He takes Massu's hand and they leave together before anyone can stop them (or say goodbye). It would have taken him too long to get his family out of the house, so instead he takes Massu to a hotel. The first one they come across with.

They don't ask for food once in the room. Tegoshi can't wait for the foreplay food, or any kind of foreplay, really. He just wants to finally do it. He wants, needs, to get to that level with Massu, to be that close to him, united.

Except... The result is far from perfect.

"That was..."

"Awkward."

Why? Tegoshi asks himself. It was suppose to be... different.

It had been quick. Tegoshi rushed Massu to take his clothes off and they almost didn't make it to the bed. They didn't even had any time to be excited, too much in a hurry to actually enjoy it...

"You came too fast," Massu states (a sad, ugly true), while both of them are looking at the ceiling and not at each other.

Tegoshi isn't ready to take the blame, though.

"What?" He pouts, then turns himself to finally look back. "Are you saying it's my fault?"

Massu moves his head to say no, "No, just..."

"What?"

Massu sighs.

"You were a little anxious," he explains, finally.

"Like you were any better?" Tegoshi defends himself, making Massu pout too.

"I told you to slow down..."

"We didn't have time!"

Massu frowns hearing that. "Tegoshi, we have the evening to ourselves..."

"No we don't, someone or something will interrupt us!"

That's the heart of the problem, isn't it? Awful timing on their part, on other people's part. Now they weren't interrupted and it's ruined anyway!

"You really think that?" Massu asks him, serious.

"It's what happens every time!"

Then silence. Silence for the longest time and Tegoshi feels like shit from beginning to end. Everything just sucks. It isn't fair.

He sees Massu move out of the bed, and Tegoshi feels even worse. Is it better to just get dressed and go home? Forget what just happened?

But Massu only takes something from his pants and drops them to the floor again. It is his cell. He turns it off.

"Tegoshi, where's you phone?"

Tegoshi blinks in confusion. He moves out of the bed to take his jacket from where he left it when he took it off. He gets the phone and shows it to Massu.

"Turn it off."

He doesn't move, so Massu has to take it from him and do it. He then takes Tegoshi's hand to move him back to bed.

"Massu, what...?"

"No interruptions this way, right? No need to hurry."

"But..."

Massu makes him sit in the bed, by his side. Their hands are still interconnected.

"Let me show you why I like to take things slow, OK?" Massu gives him a tender kiss, and smiles. "Let's try again."

Tegoshi responds to the kiss, and they lie back on the bed slowly, enjoying every touch.

"Until it's perfect?" He teases, getting playful.

"Of course."

The End
