This weekend was awesome.
Saturday night I went to the No Doubt concert in Mountain View, CA. The ticket was my birthday present from my friend Lisa, so I had been waiting since the beginning of March. The concert was more than worth the wait.
The first opening band was The Sounds. They were pretty cool. Very '80s influenced. The most notable thing for me was the lead singer's legs. The were phenomenal. She knew it, too, and took every chance to show them off.
The next band, and the officially listed opener, was Paramore. I love their song "That's What You Get" from Rock Band, and until the concert it was the only song of theirs I knew. I'm now planning on buying their albums through iTunes, including their new album that is out in late September. They were awesome. The lead singer, Hayley, rocked out hardcore. Love her.
And, finally, No Doubt. I can say no bad things about No Doubt. The seats were phenomenal. We were sitting within 50 yards of the stage (probably closer, but I'm bad at estimating distances). We were close enough that I could see the definition on Gwen's abs. Freakin' awesome. In high school and college I had a girl crush on Gwen Stefani, a crush that faded during her solo stint. The girl crush is back. She is stellar in concert. The whole band was stellar in concert. I am in awe of the energy they expended. I'm also in awe of how awesome the audience was. 22,000 people, all happy and grooving, jumping up and down and singing along. Amazing!!!
Two days later, I'm still feeling some of the high even though I'm still exhausted.
It had been a long time since I'd attended a concert, and it made me feel young. At least, it made me feel blissfully free of responsibilities for a few hours. I'm so thankful to have gotten this gift, because I get so caught up in being a mom that I would never have thought to buy myself tickets for the No Doubt reunion tour. Such an amazing night. :)
fun,
