We went to City Hall today. We needed to register uTime Games in California (as a sole proprietorship instead of an S Corp), and City Hall was the place to turn in forms and pay fees. As we walked up to the building, there was a nicely dressed couple taking pictures on the front steps. I thought to myself, "They must be here to get married."
Inside, there were a zillion other couples there with their families to get married. Some of the couples were women dressed in a nice dress, and the guy in the suit...the kind of outfit they might wear out to dinner on Valentine's Day. There were a couple women decked out in full wedding gowns, with veils and bouquets, and their men wearing tuxedos. Then there was the woman in an off-white cocktail dress...and she was 8 months pregnant. Funny that she was the one who didn't seem to want to be there, and the guy was excited. Sure, I'm thinking in stereotypes (the shotgun wedding), but it was amusing.
Apparently yesterday would have been a better day to go to City Hall. Yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of Gavin Newsom approving same sex marriages in San Francisco, so many of the couples married on February 12th 2004 came back to City Hall to celebrate. I would have loved to be a part of that energy.
The good news is, uTime is now legal for doing business in California. Which is good as Xaroth is making progress with PseudoQuest, and we're auctioning lots of Dough Nuts! on liquidation.com.
