Going back a few years when I was still new to the world of BL games, I had been brooding over which BL game I should play first:
Vivid Color's Silver Chaos or
Moon Parrot's Kuro no Tsuki. By accident, I came upon Silver Chaos first and entranced by Lecia and the game's artwork, decided to play it. Now how long ago was that... wow, 2005.
Anyways, I did go back to it later, as a choice for my third BL game (second being Silver Chaos FANBOX woot!) but after looking at the artwork... I concluded that it was a game that I was never going to play and started on Kannagi no Tori instead. Hm... I think that's what started my HERO-complex. SuzuKen's voice is so cute... Ahem. (coughs).
But sometimes, it's kinda wrong to judge a (game) by its cover, even though most of the time it's right because, why else would you want to play a BL (or a dating sim for that matter) game when the you don't have someone you want to go for? (laughs)
This year however, while browsing some random CGs and randomly being bored, I came across another game from Moon Parrot, Akai Yoru Hoshi no Sasayaki wo Kike. After looking through all the CGs I fell in love with the artwork. Which lead me back to Kuro no Tsuki (because they're by the same artist). And now I'm playing the game. You just can't imagine sometimes how things work in a cycle.
And I felt incredibly cheated too. When I was browsing through the characters, I felt none of them were captivating enough to make me play the game. But I played it anyways because I wanted to take a break from reading choppy English on my Altas to actually reading decent English on a game for once. However it turns out there where plenty of worthy characters in the game for me to play with on (laughs). I wonder why the company wouldn't list all the available targets on their website? It may have persuaded me more on playing the game, and not waiting 6 years later to start on it (laughs).
Though if it weren’t for the fact that there was an English patch for this game, I probably wouldn’t have continued this game at all. Installation was horrendous. I spend 45 minutes on my laptop figuring out why the heck this stupid game wouldn’t install (it had never happened to me before) before I went to Moon Parrot’s support page and read that ‘it was an old game’ so it’ll have ‘multiple issues’ and that it ‘couldn’t be helped’.
I was a bit peeved at that. I’ve played BL games older than 2002 but it still worked fine on my Vista. But I guess it couldn’t be helped, if they made the game based on such a crappy system. Nonetheless, after my discovery, I just renamed all the files/folders into English and it worked perfectly fine. It was a ‘doh, what a stupid thing to fuss over’ moment.
But I still couldn’t believe how I could have spent countless hours on a game with no skip feature. Perhaps after spending 45 minutes trying to install the game, it would be just wasted for me to stop halfway. And the result? I'm somewhat satisfied. At the plot, but not at the endings.
I'll give an overview of the game after I get my last route. Which will hopefully be by tonight, if my walkthrough doesn't fail me again.
