Buyah for Procrastination!

At the time if Hakkan was going to go through with it, I think I would have certainly cried. But to plainly be rejected with “I didn’t have the intention to do it”, the truth was it became a vexing matter.
Hakkan: Though it’s not like I hate you or wanted to deject you… I didn’t mean to say those words.
Ikaru: Then what were you trying to say then?
When I try to press the question, Hakkan whispered in my ear.
Hakkan: … It’s because once I get into it, I won’t be able to pull out.
Ikaru: Pull out… where are you pulling out from?

Haha! I bet Hakkan is having a ‘doh!’ moment right about now. It’s kinda what happen when you smex with shotas (laughs).

ARGH I CAN’T BELIEVE I WAS ABLE TO SPEW OUT 5 PAGES OF BS IN ONE DAY. I’M SO PROUD OF MYSELF. Now watch me whine about it a few days later at my incredible low mark.

Now as for the game, there isn’t a whole lot I want to say, but there is a whole lot that I want to comment/question on.

Nearing the end of Hakkan’s route (Hakkan x Ikaru), it sorta went like this:

Ikaru confesses to Hakkan, Hakkan rejects him by saying he likes Ruu and almost half rapes Ikaru with the intention of scaring him away, Ikaru goes back home depress, Renjaku sees Ikaru and listens to his problem, Renjaku calls Hakkan out and ask his reasonings, Hakkan explains that Ikaru’s soul mate is not him, Renjaku slips out that Ikaru is going to disappear soon, Hakkan becomes serious and meets with Ikaru once more, they have sex, the end.

The next scene has Hakkan and Ikaru sitting on a tree together and explaining that a long time has passed. Ikaru had the every intention of becoming human before because he couldn’t take Ruu’s soul, but because of Hakkan, Ikaru couldn’t bear leaving him.

The game didn’t directly say, but if Ikaru was about to live with Hakkan for that long of a time, it must have meant that Ikaru had succeeded with his mission and taken Ruu’s soul.

Now that I think about it, I get the feeling that Ikaru being with Hakkan is the route that makes the most people suffer. Firstly of Fukamachi and Manabe. Well. Fukamachi was raped by Manabe, and Manabe died later by suicide because of non-acceptance. Even though Hakkan didn’t collect his soul that night, he or someone else must have eventually taken it, similar to that case of the boy Ikaru wanted to save in the prologue. Renjaku faired a tiny better. He was just depressed because his only two companions he ever knew were in love with each other. But I think the saddest one of all was Ruu. Ruu’s soul would only continue to live only for meeting with Ikaru. Well of course Ruu’s future body would not remember Ikaru or anything like that isn’t that kind of sad? Living for the sake of dying. What’s worse is that the soul doesn’t realize that Ikaru’s heart isn’t even with Ruu anymore, but with Hakkan… sort of like a never ending cycle of seeing your lover with someone else. What then, is the purpose of Ruu’s soul when it can no longer connect with Ikaru anymore? When I think about it like that, I think Ikaru and Hakkan should not be together… Oh yeah. And the worst thing is? I now realized that Ikaru didn’t come during his H-Scene with Hakkan. So I guess Ikaru suffered a bit too.

On the flip side, I think Ikaru is really cute/compatible with Manabe (yes, I replayed his route as well, you got a problem with that?) my previous playthrough would have been a ‘meh, semi-logical but optimistic end’ at his route. But replaying it now, somehow, it seems to make everyone the most happiest. Fukamachi would have been able to rekindle with Manabe because Ikaru had helped Manabe through his struggles. And of course Manabe didn’t have to die, and Hakkan and Renjaku got together. Ruu’s soul… could be happy too because Ikaru became a human. So even if it’s not this life, but the one after, Ruu’s soul would be able to meet Ikaru in his human form and interact in many years to come instead of just meeting Ikaru when he dies. Oh. And Ikaru is happy too because he gets to be with Manabe/doesn't have to take away Ruu's soul.

The only, well, not down side, but unknowledgeable part would be Manabe never knowing that Ikaru was a Kannagi. Ikaru disappeared for so long, you would have thought that Manabe would have picked up on what Ikaru said while he was drunk. And Manabe should have noticed his weird way of speaking too. But I guess it’ll be hard to imagine, having sex with a death god… (laughs),

Phew, I think that’s about it. This will probably the last time before I touch this game in a long while, since I’ve finished watching Den-O series which meant no more Suzumura and Kouji goodness and no more things reminding me to replay this game. Well, replaying games doesn’t exactly hurt, especially if they’re good games but… it’s not really my style (laughs).
