Just One Kiss

The sun set glowed with radiance like no other on this night. It seemed as if the world knew what had taken place this exact night, moment and hour. Both boys breathed unevenly sweat dripping from their foreheads, sticky with their love. Zuko turned seeing the all too familiar face looking back at him.

“Wow…just wow.” Aang whispered. Zuko nodded in response.

Glancing out the window Aang saw the sun setting; had it really been that long? He felt the mattress sink in as Zuko got off, felt the warmth of another body leaving him and for the first time in a long time he felt at peace.

“Does Katara know?” Zuko’s voice was cold and unemotional.

Aang was silent.

“You swore to me that you would tell her! I can’t keep living this…this lie anymore! How much can one person take Aang? You of all people should know this!” Rage built inside him eating away his rationality and sensibility. Clenching his fists he pointed a finger at his lover.

“I really thought for one second, for one single goddamn second that I could trust you!” Zuko mechanically laughed. “But I was wrong, how surprising! Get the hell out of here, now.” With one fluid motion Aang, his Aang, left.

The tears streamed down his face and for the millionth time Zuko wished that his hotheadedness hadn’t got the best of him.
